LTD black

from faizz, 0 Comments, 230 Views

This is what i call the sparkle pedal!

The LTD is a low gain TS9-ish overdrive with a very good dynamic response (i'm feeding it @ 18V) and a beautiful warm sound.

It just happens that it works like magic when placed between a strat and an AC30 :-)

Pedalboard

from juicemaker, 0 Comments, 444 Views

Here is my current board for live playing: Guitar -> Octafuzz -> RMC-1 Wah -> Xotic RC Booster -> Fulltone OCD -> AB-Box, from there either into the Boss TU12H Fulltone Supatrem -> Ernie Ball Volume Jr. -> T-Rex Replica delay ->Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe+ -> Amp. The whole thing is powered by the T-Rex fueltank. Wiring is GeorgeL solderless cable. All pedals are true bypass except for the Replica. It sure is a big board and heavy too, but I have big feet and I hate it when the pedals are to close together :)

It's different now than on the pic, since I mess around with it from time to time. The Arion Chorus is gone to the shelf and the Voodoovibe+ is on right now. So is the Fulltone OCD instead of the Maxon VOP-9, both Maxons went to the shelf, so the only overdrive is the OCD (latest version) that makes me a real happy puppy :)

It is made in Taiwan, has silver/light grey label and black screw and is boxed.

The serial number is PQ22251 so it was probably made around September 2002.

SS-2

from faizz, 0 Comments, 281 Views

Here's a Soft Sustain by master Pete Cornish.

It wasn't love at 1st sight with this one, i wanted to try it out but actually disliked the pedal at first.

Had a chance to hear it a second time a few months later and realized that something was changed (maybe me - LOL), and i wanted to dig the pedal a lil' more.

It goes from clean to full overdrive, with great dynamic response, covering a wide sonic range.
It's overall sound is quite dark (that's why the new version has a 'low cut' control added) so you may have to work a lil' to make it fit in you existing sound palette.
The good news is that your bridge single coil will sound absolutey fat! ;-)

Tube Works

Tube Driver 910

from faizz, 0 Comments, 270 Views

Not the 4 pots model, not the AC powered model: this is the simpler one.

Replaced tube with a NOS Mullard 12AT7, upgrading OP-Amp and feeding it @ 12V made some difference.

Guess the Butler reissue would be a better pedal, but this one does everything i need right now, so i don't bother.

Absolutely not a winner on the high gain side imho: keep the gain low - not over 9AM actually - and the 910 produces a sort of tube-ish-swash-compressed-breakup that sounds quite nice eiter alone or stacked with other drive pedals.

Blue Boy

from faizz, 0 Comments, 210 Views

This lil' jewel from australian MI Audio is based on the classic TS9 circuit (it can actually sound the same if you want) but provides quite a lot of extra gain than a classic Tube Screamer.
Then you can fine tune it with internal trimpots according to your taste if you need.
OP-Amp is mounted on a socket as well, so you're free to make experiments.

For my own future release value i must say that this was the original version, now discontinued, and sounds waaaay better than newer ones - LOL!!

BD-2

from faizz, 0 Comments, 194 Views

I like this pedal a lot: it's a sort of hi-fi, full range overdrive/distortion with great dynamic response.

It works very well both alone than stacked: don't know how different the stock model sounds compared to the Keeley version, i just used this one, guess the basic sound is there anyway.

I personally just find the phat switch a bit useless (too much booming basses added) but other than that the pedal sounds good while staying clean and quiet.

Overdrive

I bought this drive because of the hype around it. I was in the US on a vaccation, so i ordered without ever having the chance to try it. It's got one sound - and that is fat cranked Marshall. It really sounds like a driven tube-amp, but it's not going to be my main drive.

fulltone OCD version 3

/rooockers/chacal/2470/Effects/OCD

from juicemaker, 0 Comments, 113 Views

This little puppy came with the mail today and even though I already have a bunch of overdrive-pedals and played even more, I must admit that I am deeply impressed! This pedal cleans up like nothing I've ever heard when you roll down the volume on your guitar. the sound is very(!) like your guitar and amp sound. Almost zero coloration. It does not have huge amounts of gain but enough to make a solo sing and notes turn into nice harmonic feedbacks. The function of the miniswitch on top is HP=high peak (more bass, more upper mids, more gain) which gives you a more "british" sound or LP=low peak, a very creamy yet spicey overdrive that sounds very natural.

You can run whatever guitar you want with it and it will sound like the guitar not the pedal and you can get really cool sounds just by using your volume-poti.

This is version 4 of this pedal. Earlier versions sound a little different. All in all one of my absolute favorite overdrives from day one!

btw all Fulltone pedals are hand-built and equipped with a true hardware-bypass.

Played it for a while. Sounds great. Indeed very amp-like quality of sounds. Especially awesome to drive the old Marshall head some more!!

Tubezone

from juicemaker, 0 Comments, 254 Views

A really fine Overdrive pedal with enough gain to go wild but also usable as a lowgain booster or anything in between. Sounds great with any Guitar/Amp setup and cleans up nicely when Volume on the Guitar is backed off. Due to it's unique circuitry it has a very usefull gain control and the gain has a very "amplike" feeling to it. It has a sound of it's own though! A bit on the "Eddie" side. Not like a Tubescreamer - the mids are different and it has a LOT more gain then the green pedals ;)

Fulldrive 2

from juicemaker, 0 Comments, 254 Views

The everpopular Fulldrive2 should be part of every serious overdrive collection :)
This is the model with the toggleswitch for comp cut/flat mids/vintage sounds. Comp Cut makes it very much a booster with almost no overdrive. Flat mids takes away that "TS808" mid bump and works wonders with strat-neckpickups. Vintage is the "old" Fulldrive sound with the mid bump.

Voodoo-1

from juicemaker, 0 Comments, 231 Views

A usefull pedal to 1) boost the signal before hitting other effects, to 2) split your signal, to 3) add crazy raunchy overdrive. Unfortunately Roger uses the cheapest pots on this one and they crackle like hell after a few months of regular bandstand abuse.

BB-Preamp

from juicemaker, 0 Comments, 270 Views

A nice midgain "preamp" with a very natural sound, perfect for blowing into tubeamps and adding a little gain infront. Has more gain than the RC Booster. The treble and bass controls work really good. Cuts through the band extremly well in my oppinion.

OD-9

from slingshot, 0 Comments, 270 Views

Pretty good overdrive. I tend to use it as a boost with the gain down, level up, and tone a little over noon. Using it as a boost gives a little more sustain on solos and makes the Big Muff sound a lot clearer. Modded by Analog Man.

YJM-308 Preamp/Overdrive

from LycidasIsDead, 0 Comments, 138 Views

Yngwie Malmsteen's signature DOD pedal. Basically, it's a DOD 250 (which is basically the same as an MXR Distortion+, too). I mostly bought it because at the time it was cheaper than the yellow 250 reissues. It's a little darker sounding than the yellow 250s. One of my favorite OD pedals.

Thought this might be like a 250 but with a tone knob. It's not quite, but there are still a few settings I like. Gets a bit noisy when you turn the Drive knob up into "Boost" territory, but I don't have any real complaints aside from that, especially considering what I paid.
